This once was a dining room and now we have created a whole new space transforming it to what is now a rustic anteroom. Antique turned lamps with custom lampshades cast a light upon the George Smith tufted leather reading chairs.

Kitchens

The recipe for a Southern mountain kitchen is one part country look and one part tailored function. Beams give a kitchen an aged feeling, but of course antiquated appliances need to be updated and modernized. Kitchens are the heart and soul of a home, and as a designer I need to respect the family and friends of my clients. I give them room to move around and yet make it easy to prepare food, creating a happy marriage between form and function. A well-designed kitchen requires preparation time to assemble the key ingredients: appliances, cabinets, counters, flooring, and lighting must all work together as one.

Southern cooking is so much better when the cook is happy, so before starting any kitchen, I always check with the cook. We have so much fun in the kitchen with the flops as well as the triumphs of our culinary endeavors. Southern mountain cooks often follow old family recipes passed down from generation to generation, recipes filled with memories.
